Pas De Negroni

For when a Negroni isn’t enough. There comes a point where bitterness alone doesn’t satisfy.

The Negroni is contrast; sharp edges, clear lines.
The Pas de Negroni is depth; layered, warming, unfolding slowly across the palate.

  • 40ml Elusa Blanche Armagnac

  • 40ml rye whisky

  • 15ml herbal liqueur

  • 20ml sweet vermouth

  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters

  • 2 dashes Peychaud’s bitters

  • Ice

  • Orange peel

  1. Build: Add all ingredients to a mixing glass.

  2. Ice: Fill with ice and stir slowly until properly chilled.

  3. Strain: Over fresh ice into a tumbler.

  4. Garnish: Express an orange peel over the surface.

Rye whisky gives structure. Blanche Armagnac brings fruit and lift. Herbal liqueur and vermouth weave them together. Nothing dominates. Everything stays present.

A contemplative drink, built for attention.

WHY IT WORKS

Instead of replacing components, this drink expands them.

Where a Negroni balances three equal parts, the Pas de Negroni balances character:
spice from rye, fruit from Armagnac, herbs from liqueur, bitterness from bitters.

The result is richer but smoother — robust without heaviness.

It doesn’t hit.
It settles.

TASTING NOTES

Aroma: Orange oil, warm spice, gentle herbs

Palate: Dark fruit, rye warmth, rounded bitterness

Finish: Long, dry, complex

WHEN TO SERVE IT

Late evening
After dinner
When conversation becomes quieter

This is the drink that replaces the last one, not the first.
